!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is the listing.
My main questions are:
1) Is it worth it?
2) Is the upkeep on a Porsche this old expensive?
3) Would I have fun in this car? (Look

for my post on project car requirements)

My brother used to own a 944, and I remember riding in it and it seemed fun. But that was 20-something years ago.
Just looking to start a conversation on Porsche ownership. I may consider it when it comes time to look for a toy car.

do you know the mileage yet? I love those, going to be cheaper to run than a 928 or a 911 by far. Pretty damn reliable too. I cant see you losing for $2-2500 on that.

No, I haven't really looked into the details of the car yet, because we MAY be moving in the next couple months. If all goes as planned, then we will be trying to sell our house and get moved into a new house. If that happens, the toy car thing will have to sit on the back burner for a bit.
I just saw a couple Porsches on Craigslist last night, and thought maybe I would consider one for a project. Just want to get feedback from people who have owned/do own a Porsche and get their thoughts.

The 1995.5 and newer 944 has the new interior. Much better quality, durability and ergonomics. Week points - Water pump and timing belt. I think the water pump issues were resolved with non-factory parts, but the timing belt has to be replaced on schedule -religiously.

that looks clean for 2500. My neighbor used to have two 944 turbos and one was in burgundy just like that one.

The 1995. 5 and newer 944 doesn't exist. The 968, the replacement for the 944 stopped production in 1995.

2500$ is pretty cheap. Just get more Information and pictures from the seller because I wouldn't buy with that little information, but from what I can see it looks clean. It's a really fun car and as long as you are not a perfectionist, I think it will be a great car.

You are correct, I meant to say 1985.5.

1) I think that can only be determined by you. If I had the time, energy and funds I would love to have a 944 or 928 as a project car.
2) Yes. I would buy one that needs to be gutted mechanically and put in something far less expensive to maintain and fragile. LS conversions are very popular. But for my money I would drop in a Lexus I6 from a GS300 or GS330. I love those engines.
3) I think not. For your budget I think something more reliable would be best. From your list I think I would do the SC300 because I have a crush on their power plants (see #2), the styling has aged well and you have Toyota reliability. Also you have a whole smorgasborg of after market support.
Best of luck to you.

I actually read it as 1985.5 anyway. Didn't realize you put 1995.5 until I saw the reply correcting you.
And thanks for the info!

I am not a perfectionist. Just looking for something to drive, have fun with, maybe toy around with, and that has character.
The more I think about it, the less I want a Miata...HAHA!

Then get It. I would recommend a ppi from a decent independent Porsche mechanic though.

When you asked about a third car, I think I said to check out a 944. Looking back in the comments, I can't seem to find me. Strange. Whatever, this is the car I would've recommended anyway.

That's why I asked. I went back and looked at my original post. Didn't see anything from you.
But thanks either way! I will definitely consider a 944 when I start looking.
